Green Gold

Time for a bit of fun fishing for bait today. I had invited Tony from work out for the afternoon chasing mackerel around the forts. Game plan was to fill the cool box, have a bit of fun and stock the freezer for the winter months.
It was Tony's first time out fishing and as we reached the mark I lowered down a set of feathers and passed him the rod.
"What do I do then" he said.
"Reel it in mate" I replied as the rod doubled over with a full string!!
Amazed and in slight disbelief he hauled up his first 6 mackerel with a smile on his face. I too had a full string within seconds of lowering down and steadily we began to fill the box.
We had a whale of a time for the next couple of hours with the mackerel, every 10  to 15 minutes the surface would erupt into life for 10 seconds with literally thousands of fish boiling in patches around the boat. At one point we found ourselves right in the middle of a boil. It looked and sounded like we were in the middle of a localised hail storm as the water bubbled around us!
Cool box full, we had a look in shore and found a few bream and wrasse before heading back. I never tire of a bit of mackerel fishing, it's like reliving my childhood.
Now for the fillet-athon!
