The Blocks

A trip over to the 'blocks' today for a go at an early plaice. The plaice are never in great shape this time of year as they are a bit spent from spawning but a bit of fun to catch none the less.
It was lovely and flat calm but still very cold out there, with the boat skimming along it didn't take us long to arrive and anchor up. Baits were soon deployed and we sat back to watch the rod tips for the tell tale sign of a plaice bite.
It was pretty slow going but a little rattle resulted in a small dab soon followed by the first plaice of the year for Dave......a very thin 1lb and a half fish.

That was to be it for the next couple of hours so we had a move to another mark a bit further out that produced 2 more fish around a pound each before we decided that we'd had enough and headed back to warm up!
