Change of Plan

Well everything was in order to get the boat out again with Dan today with the plan to meet Dave in his boat in Sandown bay. An early morning launch and the fog had lifted nicely......looking good I thought.
We were soon under way and 5 minutes in I thought Id hit a bit of weed or something, but no nothing on the prop so away again. Same thing as soon as I put on the power........soon realised that the prop was slipping on the rubber bush inside so limped back and settled for a 'close to home mark' in the Solent...........gutted but determined to make the most of it. The engine still has 4 and a half years warranty on it so at least I could forget about the cost of a new propeller and relax instead!
First mark was slow......dead in fact, so we opted for a move to find a bit of action. Fairly slow all day with a couple of dogs and a few whiting but the weather more than made up for the fishing.
I had heard from Dave that the fishing was also a bit slow round there so I think he was a little surprised when I told him I'd just had a cod of 9lb 14oz (sneaked out just before the 'any good' phone call!!!)

Lets hope we get some more of this weather over the Christmas break and the new prop behaves itself!
