Window of Opportunity

You have got to take advantage of these small weather windows if you want to get out and catch cod........ thankfully one of those windows appeared last night.
We were greeted by a calm sea and it wasn't long before we had the hook down and were fishing.
Within minutes we noticed a shoal of bass swim by the boat on the surface (4-5 to about 5lb)..squid hunting perhaps? – one small squid did make an appearance at slack water around the boat.
It was soon apparent that the woofers were out in numbers, and they proved to be a pain in the butt for a while, until I had a bite with a bit of life to it.......soon a small cod of 5lb 8oz was welcomed aboard!

Within seconds of that one hitting the deck, another one had jumped on one of Dave's rods and was soon smiling for the camera…..7lb 12oz

Next up was a small but lovely marked undulate around 7lb

Then a case of anything you can do.......I can do better! - 13lb 9oz

After this we were plagued by conger eels snaffling the baits and destroying our rigs but no more cod…...still a very enjoyable nights fishing in a window of opportunity!
