Too hot for Lechlade...

Another family visit to Gloucester this weekend and with no chance of Sea fishing I took my Father in law's (Pops) offer up for a bit of fly fishing. Seems to be getting a regular thing now when I come up to visit and I have to admit, I do look forward to it!!
The plan was to fish Lechlade (in a row boat this time) with the promise of some stonking trout as they stock the lake with rainbows up to 30lb! When we turned up we were told that the lake had to close as the water temp was too high.

Plan b then, was to fish Bushylease - a bigger lake with smaller fish just across the road. I have fished this lake on a previous visit but from the bank. This time we would be in the rowing boat. Should be a good laugh!
It always makes me laugh when you see all the hardcore country gents in their tweed jackets, hats and waistcoats etc... I get out of the car in a pair of jeans, vest top and a cowboy hat and they look you up and down as if to think "what the hell does he think he is doing here"!
To cut these ramblings a bit shorter, I saw two fish caught all day by the country gents and camo'd up stalkers. Pete and I pulled 11 rainbows out, which put a few peoples noses out of joint. When asked (on several occasions) "what fly are you using there old chap" I gave them a smile and said "one of my own"!
