More August Bass

Calmer and more settled conditions gave us the choice of either lure or bait fishing for those hungry August Bass today......so we decided to do both!
We found them with the lures on the first drift averaging around 3 -4lb

With the best of the bunch falling to me at 7lb. This one really hung deep and certainly didn't want to come to the boat!

As the tide died, so did the fishing....it was time to go and catch some bait anyway. The mackerel were once again in abundance - in fact they were under the boat all day. The water had a lot more clarity to it today and while it was good for lure fishing, the fishing at anchor was a lot slower. The Bass showed on up on cue and we had a little flurry of bites resulting in a fish each around 3 - 4lb.

The only other fish of note that didn't quite make it in for a photo kept me guessing until it surfaced 30 yards behind the back of the boat. A decent Bullhuss was the culprit but it's twists and turns in the full run of the tide resulted in a pulled hook just feet from the net. Still....can't complain, another cracking trip!
