The game plan for today was split into two halves with some plaice fishing to start, followed by some drift fishing for Bass and Pollack after. The weather was gloriously calm and warm with just enough of a breeze to take the edge off the heat. The fishing was good and we made the most of it.
The plaicing wasn't too bad today, we managed to find 8 fish in total. A few 3's, some 4's and a couple of 5lb'ers made up the total catch before the tide got too much.
Satisfied with some quality fish it was now time for phase two. Worms, beads and spoons swapped for booms, long traces and sidewinders we headed out to fish an underwater cliff. The depth change here is around 120ft over the short drift - snags ARE inevitable but you have to be in it to win it!
The first drift produced a stunning pollack for Dave that bounced the scales down to 12lb.
The next drift produced a smaller pollack for Dave and a lively bass for me.
We had great sport for the next couple of hours with at least one of us hooking up on either a bass, pollack or big chunky mackerel on each drift.
We'd had a great day and also run out of sidewinders by the time it was lines up. I'd love to get Jake out here for a go at this......maybe next week ;-)
