On the hunt for a double....

Bass now on the brain, Dave and I are on the hunt for a double before the cod turn up. An evening session into darkness, starting on lures and finishing with big baits on the bottom was the plan of attack.
After readying and launching the boat in sweltering conditions, the wind in our faces was most welcome as we skimmed across a glass like sea on the way out....it really was a flat one today.
We didn't have long on the lures but still managed two half decent fish each, Dave taking a lovely fish of 7lb 4oz.

With the tide very quickly all but gone we set about trying to find some fresh mackerel before the light disappeared. They were hard won and it was up to me with the magic feathers to find them in the end!
We settled in just as the darkness grew around us....first fish of the night was familiar to say the least.....another undulate in the low doubles.

A flurry of bass activity then kicked off........unfortunately for Dave, it all seemed to go my way tonight but he was very useful with the net ;-)
First off, one of 4lb 8oz...

Next up a better fish....just over 7lb!

Then another around 5lb...

and lastly a fish around 4!

We had a quiet 40 minutes before we made for home. No doubles but top fishing none the less with 8 decent billys........
