Friday Night Bass and Ray

We decided to try a new spot from the shore tonight in the hope of a bass and the possibility of a ray or two.
On arrival the heavens opened and it was time to batten down the hatches till it passed!
As the darkness fell the rod tips started nodding with bait robbing pout but soon after this I had a better bite and struck into the target species...bass a shade under 3lb.

A quiet hour then followed before the next bit of action......Dave had just baited up, poured a cuppa and come over for a chat when he noticed a bite on the rod that had only been out 30 seconds!! Rushing back he found quite a bit of slack and reeled into the fish which kept deep and felt very un-bass like!. It turned out to be a nice sized spotted ray of 4lb 1oz (a PB for Dave from the shore!)

The next couple of hours saw only a few small fish, before Dave had a half decent bite....struck into the fish and felt it pulling back! He soon beached a nice pristine bass of 5lb 7oz and once on the beach the hooks pulled out......lucky chap!

All in all, a good night where exploring new venues has it's merit.
