Guilty...

A call from Dave an hour before we were due to head out confirmed he couldn't make it for the planned assault on the gilthead bream this morning. I'd been up since 5am getting ready for a 6am launch. I had the car loaded, the bait ready and I was going, Dave or no Dave!.
Did I feel guilty?.........no and yes ;-)
My little boat is easy to launch single handed and to be honest, I was quite excited about the solo trip.

It was a great mornings fishing with plenty of action. Lots of small black bream again but I did find 4 giltheads in amongst them. The first two being the best fish, both touching 1lb 4oz.

The next two were smaller but giltheads all the same!

I dropped the best gilthead on the surface just feet from the net......it was a good fish, probably close to 2lb - that was kick in the balls :-(
Best part of the flood gone, it went quiet on the gilthead front until out of no where something hit the rod so hard it nearly left the boat. Now, whilst playing this fish on the light tackle, I thought I had been given another chance. It had the weight there and felt like a gilthead too........but no....it was a bass :-/

With that I headed back in, quite happy with my mornings effort......poor Dave!!
