Joe gets his Bass

Promised to take my brother out and find him his first sizeable bass today. The original plan was to spend the morning in the boat but with the changeable forecast and the promise of rain yesterday we decided on a shore session.
When I woke this morning and saw the sunshine forcing its way through the blinds and the trees out the back motionless I was a little annoyed......the upside came in the form a lie in, something of a rarity these days!.
Anyway raided the bait freezer for some crab and headed off to collect Joe.  He has had a few unlucky trips lately, so I knew the pressure was on to find him a fish in daylight. Decided to stay local and opt for an 'old faithful' mark. Set up and chucked out some crab and let him sit and watch the rods while I walked along the beach a bit with a plug.....next thing I know he is shouting, reeling in my rod and then proceeds to beach a bass of 2lb 8oz!
"fair enough Joe, you caught it" I said......and he was happy with that, thank god!

I was very glad he had that fish as the fishing was very slow for the next hour or so, just the occasional knock and tug that didn't materialize to anything further.
At last knockings I had a better bite and connected with a near identical fish of 2 lb 12oz.

Job done, dinner sorted and Joe's happy ;-)
