Fat Pig - Shogun

Dan had been pestering about a cod trip round the needles light so a quick call to my old pal Rob and we were filling a couple of individual spaces aboard shogun for the day. The needles has had some outstanding fishing through November and unfortunately was starting to tail off now with the drop in sea temp and arrival of large shoals of sprats.
I had a mare of a day, firstly connecting with a thornback that had me thinking cod most of the way in, and secondly - dropping two cod one after the other :-(
Dan though, had my lucky rod for the day and put it to good use, landing a personal best of 21lb. It was a real gutty pig of a cod with a big fat belly...Rob got a cracking shot of it too!
