Rubber-dub-dub 3 Men In a Tub!

Ian joined Dave and I for a late afternoon assault in the bay today. Game plan was to look for some bream while we had the light and the flood tide, then anchor a bank for Rays and Fatties in the evening.
It was lovely and calm and with this recent settled weather the water had a good deal of clarity to it too. We were fishing light again for the bream - probably the most fun you can have with a spinning rod and fixed spool. Bites came from the off and we enjoyed ourselves for the next hour or so pulling in bream after bream - most of them males.

I had put a feather rod down to fish on its own when we arrived, just in case there were any early mackerel about. To be honest I had forgotten all about until all of a sudden it doubled over with a string full!!...they were the only mackerel we saw on the trip but very welcomed bait for later none the less!

With an hour left of the flood tide and our fill on the bream, we opted for a move with the fresh bait. Dave claimed the first fish here - a lovely little turbot.

As the light began to fade, I managed a small turbot and soon after found myself attached to a much heavier fish. Too heavy for a turbot - we called the fish before it hit the surface...a lovely marked blonde in the low doubles.

We were starting to loose the tide now and as we were swinging, Ian managed to pull out his first ever Turbot to make it one a piece!

We fished the ebb tide for another two hours before heading back in. There were a surprising number of eels on the ground with a couple of thornbacks thrown in too.

A nice busy night...and summer is well on it's way!!
