A Guide for the Morning

Kicked out of  bed this morning with instructions to get up and get ready "or we'll be late" I found myself loading the car with gear and grub again! There was a bit of fine drizzle in the air but everyone was as keen as cat shit so we were going.......rain or not!
We met up with Stu & Jo and proceeded to divvy up everything but the kitchen sink between us for a 15 minute walk to the beach. Being new to fishing, I had offered to show them the ropes with regard to traces, casting, leaders, bait etc...and maybe find them a couple of fish while we were there.
The weather gradually started to brighten up and after setting everyone up, most if not all of us had a rod in the water. Sadie, true to form was first in with a small bass shortly followed by a small black bream which were admired in a bucket of water before being returned.
I was fishing all out Bass with big hooks and it soon paid off as I hit a cracking bite before the rod left the rest. The fish fought well in the shallow water and soon came sliding up the shingle to the excitement of my students!.....a fine looking fish weighing 3lb 11oz.

After this the small bream came out in force and I just couldn't get a bait to stay in the water long enough. Still it gave the others something to do and after scaling down their hook sizes, Stu managed to find his first ever fish in the shape of a small bream.
With a non stop supply of freshly cooked sausages and hot drinks - courtesy of my better half, the kick out of bed this morning was definitely worthwhile! Everyone had a great time and before the morning was out plans were already being formulated for the next trip!
