May Round Up

As predicted, shortly after returning from Greece the water temps down here broke through the 10°C barrier and things started to happen in shore. We have ventured out a handful of times for short little trips over the last couple of weeks, making the most of ideal states of tide and small weather windows when they have been there.
Plenty of mackerel about inshore along with the usual early summer species and there are a few patchy pockets of bream about if you can find them.
Plenty of rays on the scene now too with Blondes, Undulates, Painteds, Spotteds and Thornbacks all coming to the boat proving quite hectic when you hit it right - and utter mayhem on light spinning rods!
We had an hour in the dark after a late afternoon session and found far more eels than we would have liked...at one stage with 3 angry fish on at once.
Put simply - it's all kicked off now (at last) and will only get better as we go into June. Won't be long and we'll be spoilt for choice!
